Meet José Rangel
José excelled in the Archways to Opportunity program, securing tuition assistance for his bachelor's, master's, and now doctoral studies in Educational Emerging Technologies. Despite having limited opportunities growing up, José's self-motivated learning led him to teaching himself and others. After 10 years with the Mendoza Pacheco organization in Del Rio, José leads McDonald's Hospitality Department and teaches 7th-grade math.
Meet Carmen Parral
Carmen Parral moved to Texas from California in 2008 and applied to McDonald’s. She was hired on the spot two days later. Carmen has been able to support her household through working at McDonald’s and even enjoyed working alongisde her kids when they worked at McDonald’s during high school. Carmen is currently a McDonald’s general manager and plans to work the drive-thru once she retires!
Meet Samantha Sendejo
Like a lot of people, Samantha lost her job in 2020. Back then, McDonald’s was one of the only places hiring, and Samantha was able to begin working again. Now a general manager, Samantha has been able to achieve the financial stability she was seeking. Samantha’s journey is not over yet, as she plans to leverage the McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program when she goes back to school in the future!
Meet Lucero Zapata
A general manager at McDonald’s in Austin, Lucero is otherwise known by her crew as their “work mom.” McDonald’s flexible scheduling allows her to be a present mother to her three kids at home, too. Lucero credits the Golden Arches for giving her a second family, and she believes that McDonald’s has made her stronger and helped her reach her career and life goals.
Meet Joshua Winters
Working as a McDonald’s supervisor in College Station gave Joshua Winters the opportunity to enroll at Colorado Technical University, where he recently graduated with his degree in business. By taking advantage of McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program and benefits like flexible scheduling, Joshua was successful in earning his degree.
Meet Larissa Cantu
Training Coordinator Specialist Larissa Cantu joined McDonald’s during college, and benefitted from flexible scheduling to balance work and her studies. After graduating from UTRGV, she attended Hamburger University in Chicago to grow her people management skills. Leveraging McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity and the Ellis organization's tuition reimbursement benefits, she also earned her MBA in Human Resources.
